California is in the Running!

by Tim Gieseke MD, CMD

Several years ago, AMDA House of Delegates voted to allow a PA or NP to become a member of the Board of Trustees.  This is the board that implements policies approved by the House, but also works with our executive director, Chris Laxton, to advance the mission and vision of AMDA, the Society of Post-acute and Long Term Care Medicine.

This year, I am pleased to report that our CALTCM President, Debra Bakerjian (NP), has consented to run for the BOD position as a representative of the State Chapter Presidents.

In addition, Dr. Karl Steinberg has thrown his hat into the ring as a candidate for the Vice President, a position that becomes the President of AMDA a year later.  If he wins, he will be the first Californian in this position since Dr. Cheryl Phillips.

AMDA is transitioning to become the voice and advocate for all clinicians working in the PA / LTC settings.  It’s great to see Californians willing to lead the way!

Come to Phoenix for our annual AMDA meeting in March and be change agents; mark your calendars for the California State Chapter Reception on Friday night!

See you there!
