About the 2020 CALTCM Summit for Excellence
by Michelle Eslami, MD, FACP, CMD
Chair, CALTCM Education Committee

For many years CALTCM—the California Association of Long-Term Medicine has provided cutting edge education and gold-standard practice management tools through their Summit for Excellence annual meeting.  Join me and other physicians, advance practice nurses, nursing home administrators and other healthcare providers on October 8-10 as we virtually come together for engaging and interactive educational sessions and panels.

As a geriatrician who had a robust nursing home practice for many years, one of my passions was helping the residents meet their highest level of function as possible.  I’ll be presenting and moderating during the “Is Functional Decline Under Our Control?” portion of the conference and am excited to show how residents benefit from a true interdisciplinary approach to maintaining and improving their function.

The Summit for Excellence also brings together leaders from other fields in geriatric medicine and management willing to impart their best practices.  I learn something new every time I participate in the medicolegal summit.  I have a resident case ready to try and stump Dr. Timothy L. Gieseke and Jennifer Birdsall, Ph.D. during their talk on “Nonpharmacological Interventions to Address BPSD During COVID-19.” I want Dr. Rebecca Ferrini to help me find out “What's Wrong With [my SNF’s] Disaster Plan?”

This educational forum will give you the tools to improve your nursing home, whether you have been working in the field for one year or 20. It also offers CME, CMD, ABIM MOC (for eligible participants), and CE units.  Act quickly to not miss out on this year’s meeting!
