CALTCM Seeks New CEO
by Timothy L. Gieseke, MD, CMD
CALTCM Past President

Dr. Dan Osterweil, our CEO since 2012, has faithfully and masterfully steered CALTCM through a time of great change and tumult in healthcare.  Under his leadership, we have become the medical voice of long-term care in California.  Dan has notified the board that he plans to step down from the CEO position in early 2021.  The board has set up a search committee and I have been selected as the chair.  I have worked closely with Dan for the last 15 years and will miss his strong organizational skills and forward thinking ideas.  This column doesn’t have the space to pay adequate tribute to the many ways he has contributed to the success of CALTCM and our members.

As chair of the search committee, I am pleased with the CEO profile (see attachment) we have created.  We want our readers to know we are optimistic about our future and ask that you will review the profile to see if you or someone you know might be a good fit for becoming our future CEO.

2020 has been a year of great change.  I’m optimistic about 2021 and look forward to transitioning to a new CEO that will expand our voice for promoting quality patient care across the long-term care continuum.
