Medical directors who complete all CMD certification requirements by July 1, 2026—with the exception of the Core Synthesis course—may be eligible to receive a Conditional Approval Letter. (The 2026 PALTmed Core Curriculum Part 2 Synthesis courses are full - waitlists are available.)

To qualify, applicants must complete and submit the following by July 1, 2026:

• Sign-up for the Core Curriculum
  • Complete the Online Core Curriculum - Part 1 (link to PALTmed bundle)
• Upload CME/CMD credit requirements (PALTmed portal)
• ALL additional CME/CMD hours in addition to the core must be uploaded by July 1
• Note if you need hours in June, a few seats remain for CALTCM's Leadership course - June 12-13 in Carlsbad.
• Authorize Background check (PALTmed portal)
• Register for the February, July, or November 2027 Core Synthesis session
• Submit CMD application and required fees. (PALTmed portal)

Eligible applicants will receive a Conditional Approval Letter from PALTmed, with full CMD certification awarded upon successful completion of the Core Synthesis course - ONLY if the above steps are completed by July 1, 2026 - no time extensions will be granted.

• If you need CME/CMD hours - CALTCM's Leadership & Management in Geriatrics (LMG) course is an excellent opportunity to simultaneously earn those credits prior to the deadline. June 12-13 in Carlsbad, CA. 
• Not in a rush? Attend CALTCM's Annual Meeting September 24-26, 2026 in San Diego to simultaneously earn CME & CMD credits. 

I highly encourage medical directors to continue making progress toward certification and to take advantage of available educational opportunities now.
