I have a Doctor in Pharmacy degree and I am a certified geriatric pharmacist. I have been working as a consultant pharmacist since 1999.

I have been in private practice since 1996 and I am an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA School of Medicine. As a multi-boarded physician, [board certified medical specialist in internal, pulmonary, sleep and geriatric medicine] I have an opportunity to see thousands of patients in the outpatient, inpatient, and nursing home setting. I continue to remain passionate about patient care and stand by giving my patients the care and time they deserve.

Those of us in long term care medicine have an extraordinary role to play in the future of American medicine. For years, progressively more complex and acutely ill patients have become the norm in our care in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and home. Without much fanfare, with our active medical leadership, our SNFs and assisted living sites have adapted and developed much improved medical capabilities and quality.

According to CALTCM's current Bylaws: "The Policy & Professional Services Committee (PPSC) shall review and recommend policy issues and positions to the CALTCM's Board of Director's. They shall represent CALTCM at long-term care (LTC) industry, public policy, and government meetings, monitor legislative trends and actions, and act as a forum to set medical director and LTC practice guidelines." CALTCM's PPSC also collaborates whenever appropriate with AMDA's "parent" Public Policy Committee (PPC).
