About Glen Xiong, MD, CMD 

CALTCM: What is the background of your training, practice setting, and how many years have you been in practice?

Dr. Xiong: I trained as an internist and psychiatrist, with CMD. I used to work primarily in inpatient settings and now primarily work in subacute and post-acute settings.  I have been in practice for nearly 20 years since residency training.

CALTCM is offering a unique opportunity for skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) to strengthen their leadership teams through our Leadership and Management in Geriatrics course. CALTCM is seeking 2-3 nursing homes who are interested in receiving a training scholarship to participate in this high-impact program.

Effective leadership in skilled nursing facilities is a critical factor in delivering high-quality care, improving clinical outcomes, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Strong leadership can:

• Enhance patient safety and reduce avoidable hospitalizations
• Improve staff retention and satisfaction
• Strengthen communication across interdisciplinary teams
• Drive regulatory compliance and quality improvement initiatives

The California Association of Long Term Care Medicine (CALTCM) is conducting a survey to evaluate the barriers residents may experience to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The survey is anonymous and should only take 3-4 minutes to complete. Your responses will help us shape education to increase vaccine confidence, improve vaccination rates, and promote the well-being of those in our care.
