Dr. Kamal Kejriwal is board certified both in Geriatric and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is a Program 
Director at Kaiser Fontana; Geriatric Fellowship Program. He is a Fellow of the American Geriatric Society, 
American Academy of Family Physicians and a  Certified Medical Director. Dr. Kejriwal is a Geriatrician
involved with taking care of elderly patients in skilled and custodial nursing facilities, and he also runs the 
Dementia evaluation clinic. His topics of interest are Delirium, Dementia, Polypharmacy and Nursing home 
quality improvement. He thrives by participating in marathons, triathlons, cycling and traveling.

Interview with Dr. Kejriwal:
 
CALTCM: What is your training background, practice setting and how many years have you been in practice?
Dr. Kejriwal: Geriatric  Fellowship: John A Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii, Honolulu.  
Residency: Family Medicine: Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Colton, CA; Transitional year: Louisiana
State University Medical Center, Shreveport, LA.  Currently in Practice for last 11 years.
 
CALTCM:  What are you passionate about in long term care?  How are you pursuing your passion?
Dr. Kejriwal:  Quality measures such as Polypharmacy, wound, falls and behavior management in dementia 
patients. I am keeping up to date by attending annual CALTCM and AGS conferences. Keeping with recent
CMS regulations in Long Term Care.
 
CALTCM: What advice would you give to a new graduate contemplating a career in long term care?
Dr. Kejriwal:  Awesome career choice, Job satisfaction. Career choice accomplishes with both medical 
and leadership skills. Great potential of improving elderly care in the nursing homes. Provides potential
of great innovations in the care delivery in this setting.
 
CALTCM:  What additional training do you wish you had that may help with your current practice?
Dr. Kejriwal:  Could have benefited from being more aware with different rehabilitation modalities.
 
CALTCM: How has CALTCM impacted your practice?
Dr. Kejriwal: Kept me aware with the new long term care initiative such as psychotropic medication 
use, use of restraints. Also kept me abreast with CMS and State long term care regulations affecting
my practice.
