President’s Update: July 2024

Happy Summer Everyone!  Summer is hot and very busy with family and friends. As CALTCM members, we can all look forward to the end of summer and cool down with our professional friends, family, and acquaintances in Northern California at the 50th Anniversary of CALTCM Annual Meeting. The President’s Gala event will be held on Thursday September 26th and I am excited to see all of you in person at the Meritage Hotel in Napa.

Thanks to Barbara Hulz, our Executive Director, our CME accreditation has been filed, and the CMS-CDPH grant has been completed. The Board continues to work on advocacy projects with CDPH and many important partnerships. CALTCM has initiated an Alliance of non-profit organizations who have the common goal of quality care for older adults. We have met twice and are happy to say this group will move the needle to better care for older adults united together than in silos. If you have any organizations you would like to get involved in the Alliance, please forward contact information to Barbara Hulz.

Our newest collaboration is with HSAG with webinars addressing vaccine hesitancy – the crucial answers to staff, families and patients’ resistance to vaccines. Whether vaccine fatigue or misinformation, please attend these webinars as a lunch and learn (BYOL) on select Thursdays 12-1pm. The next webinar is scheduled for July 11th 12-1pm on Role Playing – how to handle the challenging situations of vaccine hesitancy. Please go to our Website CALTCM.org and register for the session.

I hope each of you can find some relaxing downtime this summer, balancing work and personal life is challenging.  Please take care of your own wellness.
