CALTCM Infection Preventionist Orientation Program

The California Association of Long Term Care Medicine (CALTCM) is pleased to announce new employee orientation training modules specifically for Infection Preventionists in long term care settings. Since experiencing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative that IPs are given more comprehensive educational support at the beginning of their tenure.

The CALTCM Infection Preventionist Orientation Program provides all the foundational information an Infection Preventionist (IP) needs to get started in their role through four (4) training modules. The self-paced online modules can be completed independently by the IP or viewed in conjunction with a supervisor to supplement other orientation activities. Nursing home leaders (DON, Nurse Consultant or IP Consultants) can utilize the Infection Preventionist Orientation Checklist and all supplemental training materials to include in their onboarding activities.

Program Modules:

  1. Infection Preventionist Duties and Outcome Surveillance
  2. Process Surveillance and Antibiotic Stewardship
  3. Immunization and Screening Program
  4. Infection Preventionist Resources and Tools

Target Audience: Infection Preventionists are the primary target audience, however additional staff such as, Directors of Nursing, Assistant Infection Preventionist, Assistant Director of Nursing, and Directors of Staff Development will all benefit from the program as many IP activities are shared amongst these staff members.

Speaker: Dolly Greene, BSN, CIC; Co-Founder, Infection Prevention & Control Resources (IPCR) and VP of Infection Prevention, NewGen Health LLC.
